On January 15, 1977, Saturday Night Live introduced “The Coneheads,” a now-iconic sketch featuring Dan Aykroyd as Beldar, Jane Curtin as Prymaat, and Laraine Newman as their daughter Connie, debuting during the show’s second season from Studio 8H at NBC’s Rockefeller Center, New York. The characters—alien immigrants from the planet Remulak with distinctive conical heads and quirky speech—quickly captivated audiences with their deadpan humor and satirical take on suburban American life circa the

Dan Aykroyd as Beldar Conehead goes FULL Remulak when Belushi crosses the line and insults his daughter. One second it’s a “normal” family scene… the next it’s pure early-SNL chaos. That deadpan alien rage Belushi’s energy = the kind of absurd comedy they don’t make anymore. If you know this sketch, you heard the Conehead voices in your head. 👽 Favorite Conehead moment? “Consume mass quantities.” The Coneheads didn’t just appear on SNL — they invaded an entire decade. Dan Aykroyd and Jane Curtin turned this absurd, deadpan alien family into one of the most iconic sketches in TV comedy history. From Remulak to suburban America, they sold it with perfect seriousness, flawless timing, and the kind of straight-faced weirdness only the original Not Ready for Prime Time Players could pull off. Still one of the greatest examples of how SNL could take a bizarre idea… a
