Some celebrated the Jewish holiday of Purim with a drag party. Purim is a festival commemorating the survival of the Jews who were marked for death by Persian rulers in 5th Century BCE. The celebration began with Havdalah to celebrate the end of Shabbat. The drag queens and kings used the performative art of drag to illustrate the story of the Persian Jews escaping death with the help of their beloved Jewish Queen Esther.
