The Place is a charming Southern restaurant located on East Broad Street across from campus. It's a small restaurant and gets a lot of walk in traffic, so we were very fortunate that they allowed us to call ahead and reserve a table for 2 on a Friday Night, not sure they usually allow that.

Downtown in the heart of Athens, minutes from The Arches, elevated southern cuisine is served. Everyone must start with the fried vegetables; large fried green tomatoes, okra, and pickles. My personal test of southern style is Shrimp & Grits.
