A thunderstorm weather warning has been issued for the south-east of England. The yellow weather warning, covering Kent, Sussex and Surrey, begins at 11:00 BST on Monday and will run until 21:00. The Met Office issued the warning, saying a few places "could see 30 to 50mm of rain within a couple of hours" in the afternoon and early evening.

A Severe Thunderstorm Watch has been issued for our eastern most counties including Appomattox, Charlotte, and Halifax until 10 p.m. Scattered instances of damaging wind gusts up to 65 mph that could knock down trees and power lines will be the main concern today as storms move into the area.

"The storm which prompted the warning has weakened below severe limits, and no longer poses an immediate threat to life or property. Therefore, the warning will be allowed to expire. A Severe Thunderstorm Watch remains in effect until 10 p.m. for south central Virginia," according to the NWS Blacksburg VA.

On Saturday at 5:19 p.m. the NWS Blacksburg VA issued a severe thunderstorm warning in effect until 6:15 p.m. for Caswell and Rockingham counties.

The NWS Raleigh NC released a severe thunderstorm warning at 3:52 p.m. on Saturday in effect until 4:30 p.m. The warning is for Edgecombe, Nash and Wilson counties.

At 3 p.m. on Saturday, the NWS Wakefield VA issued a severe thunderstorm warning in effect until 3:45 p.m. for Gates and Hertford counties.
