Nifty 50 faced losses for the 10th straight session on March 4, driven by fears of a global trade war due to new tariffs imposed by US President Trump on Canada, Mexico, and a 20% tax on Chinese goods.

The Nifty 50 is set to record a 10-day losing streak, which will mark the longest daily losing-run in the last 29 years.

The trends on Gift Nifty also indicate a positive start for the Indian benchmark index. The Gift Nifty was trading around 22,370 level, a premium of nearly 90 points from the Nifty futures’ previous close.

The 30-share BSE Sensex opened below the 73,000 mark at 72,817.34, down 268.6 points from the previous session’s closing. The broader Nifty 50 index opened at 21,974.45

Indian stock markets ended flat on Monday, with the Nifty extending its losing streak to the ninth day amid the uncertain global situation. At the end of the trading, the Sensex stood at 73,085.94, down 112.

The Nifty IT index closed on a positive note on Monday. Shares of LTIMindtree Ltd.(up 3.61 per cent), Wipro Ltd.(up 2.13 per cent), Infosys Ltd.(up 1.24 per cent), MphasiS Ltd.(up 0.81 per cent) and L&T Technology Services Ltd.

On Monday, March 03, the 30-share BSE benchmark Sensex lost 112.16 points or 0.15 per cent to close at 73085.94. The NSE Nifty went u by 5.40 points or 0.02 per cent to close at 22119.30.

The stock market went into the red despite early trade showing positive signs. Mid and small cap IT, telecom, and financial services stocks, along with media stocks fell the most. At 10:50 am IST, the benchmark BSE Sensex fell by 208.
