(Reuters) -The United States National Transportation Safety Board Chair Jennifer Homendy said on Friday that recent media reports on the crash of an Air India Boeing Dreamliner that killed 260 people were premature and speculative.
NTSB chief Homendy said investigations of this magnitude take time amid reports that the captain cut the flow of fuel to the plane’s engines.
It can take a year, or even longer, for authorities to issue a final report detailing the likely cause of an accident and offering recommendations to prevent similar incidents in the future
A black-box recording and report details indicate that the flight’s captain switched off fuel flow to engines.
Tata Sons launched the AI-171 Memorial and Welfare Trust in Mumbai to assist victims of the Air India flight crash, pledging ₹500 crores for medical care and infrastructure support for dependents and first responders.
