Filmmaker Kiran Rao celebrated her birthday in LA on November 7. In an exclusive chat with Zoom, she reflected on her film Laapataa Ladies, which has exceeded expectations globally. Grateful for the film's success and her supportive ex-husband Aamir Khan,

When asked how Kiran Rao reacted to his big decision, Aamir said, "She asked me to come to the balcony to talk alone. She said, 'You are leaving us'. I said, 'No, I am not leaving you, I am leaving films'. She said, 'You are a child of cinema, and if you are leaving films, you are leaving us.'"

During an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Aamir Khan was asked about his decision to quit films. Aamir revealed that when he broke the news to his ex-wife Kiran Rao, she burst out crying and said, “you are leaving us.” But Aamir explained to her that he is actually leaving films and will spend more time with his family.

When the interviewer suggested that this list might be an exercise all husbands should take on, Aamir cheekily interjected: “Why husbands? Even wives! Isne mujhe nahi pooncha (She didn’t ask me), ‘How can I be a better wife?
