Disney+ has been a great place for many of the studio’s top franchises to grow, as has been the case with both Marvel and Star Wars. However, what has worked for live-action projects hasn’t been quite as successful in animation.

Plans for Tiana, Disney's animated spin-off series based on the character from The Princess and the Frog, have been scrapped at the studio. The decision was made in an effort to cease longform streaming content for Disney+ at Walt Disney Animation Studios.

Walt Disney Animation Studios has decided not to move forward with Tiana, an animated musical series offshoot of The Princess and the Frog movie set for Disney+, Deadline has confirmed. While Disney did not respond to request for comment today over the Tiana series cancellation,

More than four years after the show was announced, it looks like a Disney+ sequel series to The Princess and the Frog is not happening after all. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Disney has ended development on a Tiana streaming series “as it abandons making original longform content for streaming.
