Amtrak has announced a number of updates to its mobile app, aiming to streamline customer experience and simplify navigation.

Amtrak customers now can choose preferred seats during the booking process in its mobile app on trains with assigned seating, the rail company announced Wednesday.

While Amtrak allows anyone on the train, some passengers could choose not to take this area as a courtesy to others.
