Now, Texas Lt. Governor Dan Patrick says he wants to change the name of a piece of meat. In a post to X on Friday afternoon, Patrick said a resolution will be filed to rename the “New York Strip” to the “Texas Strip” if it’s served up here in the Lone Star State.

New York strip is the most popular term in the U.S. used to refer to a strip steak. The cut comes from the short loin. When the tenderloin portion of the short loin is removed, you're left with a cut that will produce several strip steaks.
