Three years after winning the Super Bowl LVI MVP award, receiver Cooper Kupp is no longer a member of the Rams.

The NFL league year kicked off Wednesday with two former Super Bowl MVPs hitting the open market. The Los Angeles Rams cut receiver Cooper Kupp just days after signing Davante Adams to be his replacement and the New York Jets released quarterback Aaron Rodgers following a failed two-year stint.

One of the first official moves of the 2025 NFL season is the release of Aaron Rodgers from the New York Jets. The team will release the veteran quarterback and four-time league MVP after the new league year officially begins on Wednesday at 4 p.m. ET, according to ESPN .

Aaron Rodgers' much-hyped but overwhelmingly disappointing two-year tenure with the New York Jets is officially over. The team released the four-time MVP, as expected, and the 41-year-old quarterback can now join another team as a free agent for the first time in his career — if he stills intends to play a 21st NFL season.

After the Oklahoma City Thunder and Denver Nuggets split a back-to-back, those who hoped the two-game set clarified the MVP race sadly didn't receive any. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander scored 40 points and blew out the Nuggets in Sunday's game. Jokic got his lick back Monday with a near 35-point triple-double and double-digit win over the Thunder.
