Gyokeres stirred controversy by skipping pre-season training with Sporting last week amidst ongoing transfer negotiations. Sporting's president Frederico Varandas has confirmed that the club intends to penalise the forward.

Arsenal have been linked with a move for Viktor Gyokeres all summer but nearly seven weeks after the transfer window opened, the prolific striker remains a Sporting CP player. As of yet, there has been no confirmation of the big money transfer going through.
