Washington Huskies wide receiver and Cincinnati Bengals first-round pick John Ross held the NFL Scouting Combine's 40-yard dash record (4.22 seconds) since 2017. It was broken last year by Texas Longhorns wide receiver and Kansas City Chiefs first-round pick Xavier Worthy after he a ran a 4.
Former Texas wide receiver Xavier Worthy broke the NFL Combine 40-yard dash record last year with a time of 4.21, beating John Ross' previous record of 4.22. O
Bond, who transferred to Texas from Alabama last season, ran a 4.39 40-yard dash the day after saying he would break former Longhorn Xavier Worthy’s record 4.21 mark from a year ago. “I’m going to break the record tomorrow, for sure,” Bond said Friday. “I anticipate running 4.20 or possibly, if I’m feeling great, I might run a 4.1.”
Texas didn't display the legendary speed tandem it had with 2024 departing wide receivers Xavier Worthy and Adonai Mitchell, but the team was well-represented in the 40-yard dash. Matthew Golden posted a 40-time of 4.3 seconds to lead the Longhorns. The time will likely have a positive effect on his draft stock.
The former Texas WR Isaiah Bond was confident he could surpass former Texas Longhorn WR Xavier Worthy's 40-Yard dash at the Combine.
