In the first inning, Minnesota Twins catcher Jair Camargo called timeout and stepped out of the box as Skubal was in the wind-up to throw a 1-2 pitch. The timeout was, perhaps unwisely, granted by plate umpire Sean Barber. Skubal was piqued. He reared back and threw a 100.1 mph fastball, then got Camargo swinging on a 90 mph slider.
