The sanctions have affected one very-large crude carrier (VLCC) and two Aframaxes that the Treasury Department said helped move Iranian oil to China.

The sanctions target entities and individuals in China, India and the United Arab Emirates, as well as several vessels.

The U.S. on Thursday imposed sanctions on a network of more than a dozen people and firms that are accused of facilitating the shipment of millions of barrels of Iranian oil to China.
