Green Day is making its foray into the film industry with a new comedy project. The East Bay punk band is teaming up with Live Nation Productions for “New Years Rev,” a coming-of-age film inspired by the trio’s early touring experiences.

Green Day are producing a new comedy movie inspired by themselves. Coming of age film New Year's Rev will follow three friends — played by Ryan Foust, Kylr Coffman and Mason Thames — on a journey to Los Angeles where they mistakenly believe they'll be opening for the American Idiot rockers at a New Year's Eve show.

Inspired by the punk band's early days, director Lee Kirk's feature 'New Years Rev' is currently in production.

Live Nation Productions produces music movies like A Star is Born, the David Bowie documentary Moonage Daydream, and Love, Lizzo. Coming next from the musical production company is a new comedy that’ll hit the heartstrings of Green Day fans.
