Australia's flag carrier Qantas Airways declared a special dividend for the first time in more than two decades, with the company also reporting a first-half profit on Thursday that rose 11% on the back of strong demand.

Qantas Airways Ltd (ASX:QAN) has reported a 11.2% rise in underlying profit after tax – to $1.39 billion – for the half year to 31 December 2024, on the basis of strong customer demand across the main brand and also Jetstar.
