Four teams of squads will meet up in San Francisco on Sunday, and it’s simple: two teams will play, another two teams will play, and the winners play each other in the finals. It’s meant to jazz up the old format that fans found stale.

For the first time, the All-Star Game (7 p.m. Sunday, TNT) will feature a four-team tournament. Three teams will consist of players selected as All-Stars, while the fourth team will be the winner of the Rising Stars' own mini-tournament.

The NBA definitely is at a crossroads with its All-Star weekend, and while the league has plans to make the product more entertaining like it once was, perhaps they could take a page out of the NHL's book and create an exciting event.

Per the NBA: “The four teams participating in the NBA All-Star Game will compete for a prize pool of $1.8 million. Each player on the championship-winning team will receive $125,000, each player on the second-place team will receive $50,000 and each player on the third- and fourth-place teams will receive $25,000.” There you have it.
