The left engine separated from the aircraft and struck the north corner of this building at ground level. The aircraft's right engine was found resting beneath a concrete water tank on the building's rooftop. The inboard section of the right wing was recovered near this area.

The US transport safety body said investigations into the Air India 171 crash in Ahmedabad will take time. It expressed support for India's investigating body AAIB.

The plane crash claimed the lives of 260 people, including 19 who were in the medical hostel building reduced to rubble because of the crash.
