President Trump and Secretary of State Marco Rubio both suggested Friday that the United States might wash its hands of the peace effort.

Trump’s latest criticism of the ongoing war follows a Russian missile attack on Ukraine that led to dozens of casualties.

US Special Representative for the Middle East Steve Witkoff, in his interview with The Wall Street Journal, discussed the issue of Ukraine's territories with Russian dictator Vladimir Putin. He believes that Russia can get some of the regions.

"I think we might be on the verge of something that would be very, very important for the world at large," Trump's envoy said on Monday.
