Texas may officially rename New York strip steak after in a slap to the “liberal” Empire State that promotes local beef — but may fire up an interstate beef instead. Texas Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick said “Texas strip steak” would better reflect the Lone Star State’s status as the cow capital of America.

Now, Texas Lt. Governor Dan Patrick says he wants to change the name of a piece of meat. In a post to X on Friday afternoon, Patrick said a resolution will be filed to rename the “New York Strip” to the “Texas Strip” if it’s served up here in the Lone Star State.

Patrick says the Texas Senate will file a concurrent resolution to strip New York from the strip and change the name to the "Texas Strip". The Lt. Governor said they would "ask restaurants to change the name of this strip of meat the next time they reprint menus, and grocery stores to do the same". Nothing would be mandated though.
