With high winds continuing, thousands of people were reported without power early Wednesday across the eastern half of Kansas. Evergy reported that 42,748 total customers were without electricity as of 5:56 a.
Crews working to restore power around Kansas City after wind, snow lead to widespread outages
Evergy said customers with the most extensive storm damage are in St. Joseph, Lee's Summit and south of the river in Kansas City. For customers in those areas, power isn't expected to be turned back on until Thursday night. BPU said crews will work through the night and expects outages to be restored by Thursday night.

FINNEY COUNTY —The first winter storm of the month of March is bringing winds of over over 70 mph to southwest Kansas with blowing dust. Mad Dog Metals, a business west of Garden City, lost its roof in the storm, and debris was reported in the roadway blocking the road to Holcomb. Garden City is also reporting power outages.
