One key result is that almost every probationary federal employee, which generally means people who came on board within the past year or two and who haven’t yet qualified for the strong employment protections that government jobs are generally known for–reportedly 200,000 federal employees–faces the possibility of being let go.

About 7,000 employees are expected to lose their jobs at the tax agency, according to a person familiar with the decision.
