When Jets general manager Darren Mougey turns in his first pick of the NFL Draft on Thursday night – he starts the day holding onto the No. 7 overall selection – it’ll mark the fifth time in the last 20 years a new regime has gotten its chance to shape the Jets through the draft.

Membou is the 10th Missouri player drafted by the Jets. The most recent Tiger taken by the Green & White, also in Round 1 with the 13th overall pick in the 2013 draft, was DL Sheldon Richardson, who played four seasons and made 56 starts for the Jets. He was selected for the Pro Bowl after his second season in 2014.

Armand Membou is the first draft pick since Aaron Glenn and Darren Mougey were both hired as coach and general manager.
