The Menendez brothers have been resentenced to 50 years to life in prison, opening them up for the possibility of parole after spending more than three decades behind bars for killing their parents decades ago.

Lyle and Erik Menendez could finally be resentenced this week and move a step closer to freedom.

Gascon reasoned that the pair had paid their debt to society and should be eligible for parole under the state's youthful offender statute since they were younger than 26 at the time of their offense.
